HOW IT STARTED
With over 30 years experience as a floristand a lifetime surrounded by plants, in 2022 creative Richard Brazington launched The Paper Plantsman. Since then Richard has spent this time mastering the craft, learning new techniques and expanding the range .Based around a core collection of three of his favourite plants - gaeraniums, pansies and auriculas. Seasonal flowers and plants also make an appearance when the season dictates .
WHY PAPER?
Recently the art of paper flower making has spread across the world., but what we think is a relatively new idea, is in fact centuries old..
Throughout history they have fallen in and out of favour.and we are currently living through a revival..
At the heart of their creation is a deep passion for all things botanical.
When you have paper flowers from an artist, you are acquiring a piece of art and a piece of their soul. The creating process is a labour of love,. many hours spent studying reference pictures along with the real thing along with experimentation and trials to bring each fragile bloom to life.
An advantage, is you are not restricted to the seasons, and can fill your home with your favourite flowers all year round.
The Process
Our paper flowers and plants are handcrafted in Cheltenham, in the heart of the Cotswolds. Inspired by the natural form, each sculpture evokes the spirit of the original. Very familiar and known, without being an exact copy, each piece is unique. From the selection of materials, the hand painting and assembly, each step is a considered decision.
